Are Marmaris Hospitals Good? - Health Tourism in Marmaris

Updated: Sep 15

Turkey is rapidly gaining popularity as an ideal destination for health tourism. In 2020 alone, Turkey received over 700.000 visitors exclusively for health purposes.

Now, that number may seem trivial at first, so let's put it into perspective. Think of it as if the entire population of Leeds got up and jumped on a plane to Turkey for anything from butt lifts and nose jobs to hair transplants.

Lyfboat, a reputable medical journal also places Turkey in 2nd place in their Top 5 Countries for Medical Tourism article.

But amid a wave of economic downturn, how has the health sector in Turkey increased by over 300% in the last 10 years? Well, there is no simple answer to this, but it is undeniable that Turkey produces some of the best healthcare practitioners in the world specializing in aesthetic surgery.

Many hospitals here boast perfect track records and treat many celebrities and business people from all over the world every year. Even Chloe Khan from Big Brother flew to Turkey for a butt lift!

The Quality of Treatment in Marmaris Hospitals

The short answer is yes. As we mentioned in our Rhinoplasty in Marmaris guide, health practitioners are very much respected in Turkey and therefore aspiring doctors are often sent abroad to study in some of the best universities in the world before starting to work in Turkey.

It is no surprise, then, that the quality of treatments provided is incredibly high. As a matter of fact, a lot of hospitals boast and advertise their perfect track records. Unlike in many other countries, there is also a great surplus of hospitals here, which means that you won't have to wait for an appointment. In most plastic surgery cases, you can expect to get an appointment for the same day.

It may also be convenient to have surgery in Turkey for those worried about negative reactions from family and friends, especially during periods where swelling may occur. Rather than facing such problems, why not take advantage of your holiday in Turkey and get an operation here, and for half the price too!

Are Marmaris Hospitals Expensive? - How Much Do Aesthetic Operations Cost?

The cost of treatment in Turkish hospitals varies greatly with location and the specific hospital, but you can expect to get an operation here for nose jobs, hair transplants, breast augmentations, and more for roughly half the cost you would pay in The UK.

For example, on the NHS website, it is said that a nose job may cost anywhere between 4000-7000 GBP. In Turkey, however, this price is more in the range of 2000-2500 GBP. Below, we have added some rough estimates of prices for other popular operations you may want to have in Turkey.

FYI; These prices are rough estimates aimed to give you an indication of the price rates you may be given. The actual price will vary according to the specifics of the operation and brand of the hospital. These are the average prices of treatment paid by patients in 2021.

What makes Turkey even more desirable in 2022 however, is that because of the high rates of inflation faced here, the actual value of almost all foreign currencies has increased exponentially. And because the prices are in Turkish Lira (TRY), businesses have to increase their prices to keep up with increased costs.

However, what makes it interesting is that the time it takes for businesses to alter their prices according to the inflation rate greatly surpasses the actual time of decrease in the value of the Turkish lira. What this means is that for holidayers coming to Turkey, the same t-shirt that used to cost $3 back in 2021 now only costs $1.50 because of the time difference between when your currency spikes in value, and when the brand increases its prices to maintain the same amount of profit. And the same goes for prices of operations as well.

Average costs for aesthetic operations in Mugla Province:

  • Rhinoplasty (Nose Job): £2000 - £2500

  • Face Lift: £2700

  • Breast Augmentation: £3200

  • Liposuction: £2000 - £2500

  • Tummy Tuck: £2000

  • Brazillian Butt Lift: £3500

  • Breast Reduction: £2000

  • Hair Transplant (FUE): £1600 - £2000

  • Hair Transplant (DHI): £2000 - £2800
